Big Hoof Rescue & Sanctuary Adoption Policy
At Big Hoof Rescue & Sanctuary, we believe that successful adoptions begin with thorough interviews and evaluations. No equine will be rehomed without completing our detailed application process, which includes:
We uphold this rigorous process to ensure the safety and well-being of the horses. We are committed to setting up every adoption for success, as any failure in the process not only reflects poorly on us but, more importantly, causes undue stress and suffering for the horse.
Adoption fees for rescue horses help offset the costs associated with their care and rehabilitation. These fees cover essentials such as:
These fees ensure that each horse receives the necessary care and support they need for a successful transition to a new home. They also help sustain the rescue organization’s efforts to save more horses in need. We strive to maintain fair adoption fees on all of our adoptable rescues. We will likely never recover the full amounts that it costs to obtain the horse in need (they are rarely if ever free), as well as any medical, or rehabilitative care they required.
Fees will be calculated based on the above factors, in whole or by part, while also recognizing any specific challenges in placing any particular horse into a suitable home. Big Hoof Horse Rescue and Sanctuary is volunteer ran. We cannot rely on donations to fund our rescue efforts.
